A first short cultural policy profile of Croatia is now available on the Compendium. A special thanks go to our Croatian expert Jaka Primorac from the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO).
Below a few highlights of recent cultural policy developments in Croatia:
- Two major events have been dominant in the cultural policy discussions in Croatia in 2021: firstly, the impact of the pandemic on the cultural sector and secondly the aftermath of the Zagreb and Sisak-Moslavina County earthquakes on the cultural infrastructure of these areas.
- A National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) has been placed on the support to competitiveness of the CCI sector.
- In 2021, policy-makers faced challenges during the drafting and adoption of the new Law on Copyright and Related Rights and new Law on Electronic Media – changes that have been primarily the result of the transposition of EU legislation.
- (digital) media literacy and combating fake news are at the forefront of discussions in the context of digital cultural policy.
