A recently updated version of the cultural policy profile for Croatia is available thanks to the amazing efforts of our expert Jaka Primorac.
Below you can find some highlights of recent cultural policy developments in Croatia:
-
The cultural sector is still recovering from the pandemic and two strong earthquakes in 2020. Cultural objects, offices of cultural organisations and ateliers were left severely damaged, while others have been completely destroyed.
-
Current public debates include: The key legislative changes in the financing of public needs in
culture and cultural councils; the discussions on the draft of the new theatre law and the need for the
amendments of the coefficients related to the retirement funds of freelance artists. -
There have been concerns about the lack of participatory processes in the drafting of cultural policy laws.
The cultural policy profile of Croatia is available as a PDF file and can also be found through the country section on the Compendium website.
