Last Friday it has been announced by Audrey Azoulay, Director-General of UNESCO, that MONDIACULT will be held in Barcelona, Spain, during the second semester of 2025. MONDIACULT stands as a significant gathering where the 194 member states of UNESCO collaborate to shape the international cultural agenda. In 2025, it will be three years since the event was last held in Mexico City. UNESCO will therefore present a global report on the state of culture over these three years. It has been decided to put a special emphasis on artificial intelligence, as it is both an opportunity and a concern for artists worldwide. The topic aligns with the Compendium’s research topic of this year (“new technologies“), proving the importance of the theme.
The news came just before UNESCO’s World Conference on Culture and Education, held from 13-15 February in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The event convenes Culture and Education Ministers worldwide to finalize the adoption of a UNESCO Framework for Culture and Arts Education. Additionally, the World Conference gathers various UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations, and UNESCO partners in the culture and education sectors to exchange best practices and pioneering concepts.
