A government commission will propose changes in the national film policy to take account of the changing landscape, including the impact of streaming and AI

The national budget for 2024 included several cuts in public spending on arts and culture, the largest of which concerned support for popular adult education
- The government has been accused of politicizing and instrumentalizing museums, and cultural heritage in general, through increased ideological regulation
- 21 percent of funding for government-funded cultural activities comes from private spending on arts and culture
- The Swedish Media Council (Statens Medieråd) was merged with The Swedish Press and Broadcasting Authority on January 1st, 2024.
