In January 2024, the Press, Radio and Television Support Fund was abolished, and a new Media Foundation was launched, which will support projects through calls for tenders in the areas of news, investigative and educational journalism, cultural media, regional media, media of national minorities and diaspora.

A challenge for Lithuanian cultural policies and the whole cultural sector in the last years is cultural services for around 85 000 Ukrainian war refugees.

Data on cultural infrastructure show that in Lithuania the number of institutions is growing or stable, except public libraries and private cinema.

Public cultural expenditure by level of government from 2018 to 2022 increased by 64% from 500 to 822 million EUR.
