Below you can see a few highlights of the cultural policy developments in Estonia:
- Since 2022, “Cultural Backpacks” is a new support measure for visits to cultural institutions by elementary school students.
- Attempts by creative economy development organizations to pressure the government to continue direct subsidies post-Covid 19 pandemic have not been successful
- In 2023, the minimum wage of a cultural worker with higher education receiving a salary from the budget of the Ministry of Culture was at least €1,600, compared to €700 in 2014.
- Estonia has joined the movement of European capitals of culture, and the city of Tartu will be one of the three capitals of culture in 2024.
